Considering Botox injections? Whether it’s because you are looking to smooth existing wrinkles, prevent new wrinkles from forming or just want a refreshed and rejuvenated look, Botox injections offer a safe and effective solution.
Here's how you can benefit from Botox injections:
Enhance and achieve a more youthful appearance
Boost self-confidence with natural-looking results
Experience minimal side effects
Enjoy long-lasting results with little to no downtime
If you’re considering Botox or just curious about it, here’s everything you need to know before your first Botox appointment.

Why Wrinkles Form?
Wrinkles develop over time due to several factors: collagen breakdown, hormonal losses, cellular changes, damage by free radicals and muscle movement among other factors. Ultimately, even those who follow strict skin care regimens and avoid sun exposure cannot completely avoid muscle contraction. Over time as these facial muscles are used and contract, the overlying skin creases become more pronounced and form wrinkles.
What is Botox and what are the Benefits?
BOTOX™ cosmetic injectables are the most popular cosmetic procedure in the world. Botox is the brand name for Botulinum Toxin, which is a potent neuromodulator. Botox anti-wrinkle injections reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by temporarily relaxing the specific muscles that cause dynamic facial wrinkles (wrinkles that are caused by dynamic muscle movement or facial expressions). Botox benefits include prolonged softening of fine lines, wrinkles and creases, which results in a lasting youthful and refreshed appearance. It is a non-surgical, relatively painless procedure that only takes about 15-30 minutes and there is minimal to no downtime.
Botox is highly effective, safe and approved by Health Canada and the FDA for cosmetic and medical use.
Common treatment areas include frown lines, horizontal forehead lines, crow's feet, bunny lines, brow lift, lip flip, smokers’ lines, gummy smile, jaw slimming and chin dimpling.
Botox can also be beneficial for therapeutic purposes. Medical Botox includes treatment of TMJ/bruxism (teeth clenching/grinding) and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).
Who is a Good Candidate?
A good candidate is someone with mild to moderate wrinkles in the upper face who wants to smooth out current fine lines, wrinkles and creases in the skin caused by facial expression and prevent new ones from developing. Those ideal for treatment are men and women 18 years of age and older and in good health.
What to Expect During an Appointment?
All procedures begin with a consultation which includes a questionnaire about your health history and any previous anti-wrinkle injection treatments you have had. This all remains confidential. We will then discuss your concerns, desires and what you would and would not like to achieve with treatment. Aesthetic Nurse Katrena will then assess your anatomy and facial muscles to determine injection placement. Before photos will be taken. We will then come up with a treatment plan together, including dose, placement, technique and price. We will discuss how we will achieve your goals and include a timeline based on your anatomy and baseline. Aesthetic Nurse Katrena will then inject small amounts of Botox into the targeted muscles. The whole appointment usually takes about 30-60 minutes depending on the treatment area and number of treatments.
When Will I see Results & When Can I Return to Normal Everyday Activities?
You can begin to see results within 48 to 72 hours of treatment. However, full results are visible about 10-14 days following your appointment. Botox requires minimal downtime and everyday activities can be resumed immediately. However, we do ask that clients refrain from lying down and avoid hot showers, facials and saunas for 4 hours and refrain from exercising or massaging your face/applying pressure to your face for 24 hours following your treatment. Aesthetic Nurse Injector will also provide you with complete post-treatment instructions before you leave the clinic. A follow-up will be scheduled 2 weeks after your initial appointment to evaluate your results and determine if more Botox units are required to achieve your desired results.
How Long does Botox Last?
Botox injections are not permanent. All patients are different however, results typically last anywhere from 3 to 4 months. Botox is a temporary procedure and at first, you may find that your treatment results will last approximately 3 or 4 months. However, if you maintain your treatment appointments with the recommended frequency, the duration of your treatment result may last longer than 4 months.
Initially, we see our patients between the 3-month (12 weeks) and 4-month (16 weeks) period. We can create the best clinical results for you during this period. It is important to keep up with your Botox treatments during this period as we do not want the targeted muscles to regain their full strength. If you wait too long between treatments, static fine lines and wrinkles will return and treatment progression will be lost, therefore optimal results will be harder to achieve.
Because Botox requires a special technique to customize the injections to your muscular structure, it is important that your muscle activity recovers BUT that your skin is not creasing to the point from where you started.
What to Expect After a Botox Treatment?
Mild redness at the injection site is normal for a few hours to days. You may have a mild headache for 24-48 hours post-treatment (alternatively some patients may find headache relief with treatments). Noticeable results tend to begin 4 days after treatment and peak results at 14 days. A follow-up appointment is encouraged at 2 weeks to allow for an assessment of the treatment effect. If more product is desired, additional fees are required.
If you should experience any signs of infection (abnormal redness, swelling, oozing, fever, heat, pain), blistering, scarring, or other complications, please contact the provider immediately: Aestheticnursekatrena@gmail.com or (289) 688-8469

Medical/Therapeutic Botox Treatments
Botox & TMJ/Bruxism – Jaw Pain & Teeth Clenching/Grinding Treatment
Botox is an effective treatment for TMJ (temporomandibular joint) pain and discomfort. Botox is injected into and weakens the Masseter muscles which relieves jaw tension and pain, headaches, teeth grinding/clenching and minimizes lockjaw.
Botox & Hyperhidrosis – Excessive Sweating Treatment
Botox is an effective treatment for Hyperhidrosis/excessive sweating. Botox temporarily blocks nerve signals that stimulate sweat glands, resulting in the reduction/prevention of excessive sweating. Botox can be injected into the underarms and palms of hands or feet. Botox can reduce underarm sweat by 82-87%. Effects last 6 to 10 months or longer, with an increase in treatment duration to 12+ months with repeated treatments.
What Is The Difference Between Botox & Dermal Fillers?
While Botox and dermal fillers are both popular injectable treatments used to treat facial wrinkles, both options are better suited to different cases. Botox is a muscle relaxer and is commonly used to treat wrinkles that are caused by muscle movements/facial expressions. These typically occur around the eyes and mouth, between the eyebrows and on the forehead. Dermal fillers are also primarily used to treat smile lines (nasolabial folds) or other facial lines caused by the natural effects of aging, but they can also be used to add volume to the lips, cheeks and more.
